# Duration and cancellation of compliance

#### Duration of Compliance

The duration of compliance with the method is **valid for 2 years from the date of validation** (the date of transmission of the compliance certificate). This compliance with the method is associated with the criteria of the referential in force at the time of the audit.

Furthermore, in view of the ongoing methodological developments of the Bilan Carbone® method, tools deemed compliant with the method may be asked to follow these methodological developments, but this cannot be a reason to revoke their compliance.

#### Cancellation of Compliance

If, following a validation of compliance with the Bilan Carbone® method, during the allotted period of 2 years, certain past communications or messages are found to be non-compliant with certain criteria of the referential (cf. [Communication and Positioning](/compliance-framework/compliance-referentials/chapitre-e-communication-et-positionnement.md)) or are found to be detrimental to ABC's activities, ABC reserves the right to cancel the compliance of the tool, after having given the tool owner the opportunity to address the identified issue (e.g. problematic communications) within a period of 10 days.

In the same way, if the organisation carrying the tool no longer meets the prerequisites for compliance with the Bilan Carbone® method, such as membership of ABC, ABC reserves the right to cancel the compliance of the tool, after having given the tool owner the opportunity to resolve the issue within a reasonable period of time.
