# Chapter B: Support for the carbon approach

The completion of a Bilan Carbone® is not limited to producing numerical results; it constitutes a comprehensive process leading to a decarbonisation strategy. It is a low-carbon transition approach.

In a Bilan Carbone® process, the concept of mobilisation is also central to supporting the construction and steering of a GHG emissions reduction strategy. This concept replaces the stakeholder awareness component, which was mandatory up to version 8 of the Bilan Carbone® methodology. This evolution stems from the ambition to move organisations into action, momentum, and transition.

The carbon approach is therefore structured as a continuous process, and this chapter aims to assess the capacity of candidate tools to support their users from the initial understanding of climate concepts and carbon accounting through to the interpretation and presentation of results within a low-carbon transition logic.

The audit will focus in particular on the tool's resources enabling users to build competencies and mobilise internal and external stakeholders, as well as on the use of results through to their presentation within a decarbonisation strategy.

The objective is to ensure that the tool constitutes a genuine support for steering the approach throughout the completion of a Bilan Carbone®, enabling users to engage in a process that leads to the effective reduction of GHG emissions.
