Chapter D: Transparency of methodology, sources and training

Compliance with the Bilan Carbone® method does not rest solely on the robustness of calculations, but also on the transparency of methodological choices, the appropriation of the tool by its users and its ability to be part of a quality and transparency approach. A carbon accounting tool must therefore enable its users to understand the results of carbon calculations, to access the data sources used and to use the tool autonomously and in an informed manner.

This chapter aims to assess the ability of the candidate tool to guarantee this transparency, to support users in getting to grips with it and to ensure a good level of traceability. It also seeks to verify that the tool is designed as an evolving solution, regularly updated.

With a good level of transparency, the tool will be assessed on its ability to facilitate engagement in an evaluation approach and to enable external recognition.
