# Criterion D.2 - Data sources used

As mentioned in [criterion A.10](/compliance-framework/compliance-referentials/chapitre-a-cadre-technique-et-methodologique/critere-a.10-coherence-des-fe-et-des-versions-des-sources-de-donnees.md), the data used in the candidate tool may come from very different sources: databases specific to a sector of activity, studies relating to a particular element (product, equipment, technique…), expert opinions, etc. Not all of these data sources are of equivalent quality, and for each of them, it is necessary to verify transparency, reliability and currency.

The methodological points (reliability and currency) having been detailed in [criterion A.10](/compliance-framework/compliance-referentials/chapitre-a-cadre-technique-et-methodologique/critere-a.10-coherence-des-fe-et-des-versions-des-sources-de-donnees.md), only the transparency of these data sources will be analysed here. More specifically, it will be analysed to what extent the tool is transparent about activity data (value, unit, source) and about the emission factors used, by being clear about its label, its value, its version and its source database in the case of EFs derived from "conventional" databases.

In the case of consolidated EFs, it will also be expected that the candidate tool makes accessible all the technical values (primary data, assumptions, etc.) that were used in their construction.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.bilancarbone-conformite.com/compliance-framework/compliance-referentials/chapitre-d-transparence-de-la-methodologie-des-sources-et-formation/critere-d.2-sources-de-donnees-utilisees.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
