# Criterion D.3 - Training on the use of the tool

Just as the Bilan Carbone® method provides training on its own tools, it is essential that the user of the candidate tool be trained in its use, or failing that, be supported throughout its use in order to facilitate adoption. Depending on the type of tool (spreadsheet format or SaaS solution) and its purpose (organisation, project or product), this support can take many forms and rely on different materials. Whether through tutorials, FAQs, training sessions, user guides, online or in-person assistance, what will be evaluated here is the quality of this support (i.e. does it address the various questions a user may have about how the tool works?) rather than its format.

In the case of candidate tools serving an advisory and consulting approach (where the user works only partially autonomously with the tool), it is still expected that these tools include elements ensuring understanding (and correct use, even partial) of the tool.
